Why have I stopped making progress?

"Why am I not getting any stronger?" "Why can't I put on any more muscle?" "Why have I stopped losing weight?" "Why am struggling to continue to make the same progress as when I started working out?"

Have you ever caught yourself asking any of these questions even though you are still doing the same things that got you to where you are today? I certainly have wondered before why I had seemed to stop making progress, specifically in the areas of size and strength. So what's the issue? Well, the simple answer actually lies in the last question I asked. Do you know what it is? It is actually the unchanging routines that bring this about, the sameness. If you are anything like me, when I first started working out more consistently and eating more, gaining size and strength came quickly. However, I was still eating the same food and doing the same workouts week after week. Eventually though, if our routines, especially the exercise ones, never change then it is only a matter of time before our bodies adjust to what we are doing. Once this happens, those same exercises will no longer bring about strength or body progress we were experiencing.

Ultimately, if you want to continue to improve in any area over time, you must add variety to your workouts and exercises. What doesn't challenge you, won't change you. Our bodies love routine, so the more you can keep yours from getting in one, the more progress you will continue see.
